District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain today cast her vote at Government High School, Phase 5, Mohali and appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise to be the part of celebrations of world’s largest democracy. She said that the right to vote is an important right given to us under the constitution of India, so it is our duty to respect the democracy by exercising our franchise. 

She said that, today, all the arrangements were in place on 825 booths (including 7 auxiliary) and voters started to queue up on the polling booths in the morning due to heat waves. The Deputy Commissioner while entering the polling booth interacts with all the staff deployed to facilitate the voters including Booth Level Officer, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, volunteers and SVEEP team members and applauded their zeal to help the voters who were visiting the booths to cast their votes.

She danced with the girls who were performing Gidha and celebrated the joy of festival of democracy. She said that the administration had set up two supermodel, 30- Model, 03 each Pink, PwD and Youth booths in the district besides one green at each constituency to boost the morale of all the polling parties employed in polling process.

ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ-ਕਮ-ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਆਸ਼ਿਕਾ ਜੈਨ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਹਾਈ ਸਕੂਲ, ਫੇਜ਼ 5, ਮੋਹਾਲੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਦੇ ਜਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਬਣਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੋਟ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ ’ਚ ਮਾਣ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵੋਟ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨ ਤਹਿਤ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਇੱਕ ਅਹਿਮ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਾਡਾ ਵੀ ਫਰਜ਼ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਵੋਟ ਦਾ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਦਾ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਕਰੀਏ। 

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ 825 ਬੂਥਾਂ (7 ਸਹਾਇਕ ਬੂਥਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ) ’ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਗਰਮੀ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਕਾਰਨ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਵੇਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਬੂਥਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਕਤਾਰਾਂ ਲਗਾਉਣੀਆਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੇ ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਬੂਥ ’ਤੇ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਣ ਸਮੇਂ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹੂਲਤ ਲਈ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਸਮੂਹ ਸਟਾਫ਼ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੂਥ ਲੈਵਲ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ, ਆਸ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਂਗਣਵਾੜੀ ਵਰਕਰਾਂ, ਵਲੰਟੀਅਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਵੀਪ ਟੀਮ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਬੂਥਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ। .

ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗਿੱਧਾ ਪਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਨੱਚ ਕੇ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਨਾਈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਸੁਪਰ ਮਾਡਲ, 30-ਮਾਡਲ, 03-3 ਪਿੰਕ, ਪੀਡਬਲਿਊਡੀ ਅਤੇ ਯੂਥ ਬੂਥ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਹਲਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਇੱਕ ਗਰੀਨ ਬੂਥ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨੋਬਲ ਵਧਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।
