Terming his BJP rival Ravneet Singh Bittu as a “political asylum seeker” with the union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Punjab Congress president and party’s candidate from Ludhiana, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today said that even his (Shah’s) “handholding” will not help the BJP candidate to overcome his ten years of anti-incumbency and disillusionment of people, as he was certain to forfeit his security deposit on June 4.

Speaking at a public meeting in Gurdev Nagar here today, Warring, while referring to Shah’s visit to the city to campaign for Bittu, remarked, it is a public knowledge that Bittu all these years, even while being with the Congress, sought “political asylum” with Shah. But, here nobody can save him from an imminent defeat that is steering at his face, he added.

“Will Mr Amit Shah make up for the lost ten years due to absence of Bittu from Ludhiana, despite being an MP?” he asked, while adding, even Shah must have realized it today that he was betting on a wrong horse who had outrun his course and was destined to lose the race this time.

Expressing confidence about his victory, Warring said, people of Ludhiana will after ten years know the difference as what an active and visible MP means for the constituency and its people. He observed that with Bittu’s disappearance after getting elected, people of Ludhiana had forgotten that there is something called an MP also.

The PCC president said, while he cannot bring back the precious ten years that Bittu lost, he promised that during the coming five years he will try to make up for the losses in whatever way he can and as much as he can.He claimed that with the Congress government all set to take over on June 4, people of Ludhiana will have a double delight as they will be having an MP belonging to the ruling party.

“I know how to serve people and how to get the work done”, he asserted, while remarking, “everything is possible, you only need to have the will to work and will to serve the people, which was not there in the outgoing MP”, he remarked.
