National Dengue Day- Awareness drive launched in Kathua: IEC Van to target High-Risk areas

To mark National Dengue Day, a programme was organised in the office of Chief Medical Officer Kathua, here today. The stakeholder departments resolved to support the Anti-Dengue campaign, recognizing the importance of collective action in combating the viral disease.

Themed "Connect with Community, Control Dengue” the drive took off with enlightening lectures delivered by medical professionals, including Dr. Vijay Raina, Chief Medical Officer, and Dr. Uttam Chand, District Health Officer and Dr. Radha Krishan, District Tuberculosis Officer. The  experts  underscored the importance of proactive measures in combating dengue.

Similar events were held at the Block Headquarters, underscoring the widespread commitment to public health. The events aimed at educating and engaging the community in preventive measures against dengue.

Following the informative session, an IEC van adorned with informative content was ceremoniously flagged off by the CMO. The van will traverse high-risk areas of urban Kathua, spreading awareness among vulnerable communities.

Emphasizing prevention measures and the availability of free testing and treatment facilities in Government Hospitals, the initiative aims to empower individuals to take charge of their health and well-being. Pertinently, the National Dengue Day is observed annually on May 16 to raise public awareness about dengue fever, a mosquito-borne viral infection prevalent in over 100 countries worldwide. 

The day serves as a platform for communities, organizations, and governments to come together and take proactive measures to prevent and control the spread of dengue.
