Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat, Chairperson of the J&K Khadi Village Industries Board (KVIB), spearheaded an awareness camp and interactive session for educated unemployed youth and aspiring entrepreneurs in Khojipur, Jammu.
The event, attended by Secretary CEO KVIB, Dr. Jagdish Chander, senior officers from the Board, representatives from Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), and local youth, focused on fostering entrepreneurship and economic independence.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat encouraged potential entrepreneurs to capitalize on government initiatives, particularly self-employment schemes like the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program and JK Rural Employment Generation Program. These programs are designed to empower individuals, promote economic independence, and bring positive change to the region.
Highlighting the importance of active participation from all stakeholders, Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat announced the upcoming establishment of a KVIB skill training center dedicated to women in the panchayat. Emphasizing synchronized efforts among implementing agencies and banks, she stressed the need to ensure that the benefits of employment generation programs reach the targeted population effectively.
During the interactive session, detailed presentations were given on the implementation modalities of JKREGP and PMEGP. Attendees were informed that these schemes are available online, allowing aspiring entrepreneurs to apply for financial assistance seamlessly.
The meeting also disclosed that an impressive margin money of Rs. 36.57 crore has been allocated for the establishment of 1448 units in Jammu district over the last five years, leading to employment opportunities for 11,038 individuals. The event served as a platform for engagement and education, encouraging local participation in these vital economic programs.
