Everyone wants to be treated equally under the law irrespective of caste, colour, race, or gender. If we talk about gender there are still people in society who think wrong about the LGBTQIA+ community and do not treat them right with them, and do not give them acceptance. This Community needs to be treated equally too and should be given all the rights that everyone deserves.

Supreme court transferred all the petitions seeking legal recognition of same-sex marriage before the High court to itself on Friday. A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala directed the High courts, "Since several batches of petitions are pending before Delhi, Kerala and Gujarat High Courts involving the same question, we are of the view that they should be transferred and decided by this Court. We direct that all writ petitions shall stand transferred to this Court."

This matter will be heard on 13 March, after the submissions by all the parties. Advocate Arundhati Katju is appointed as the nodal counsel for the petitioners, whereas advocate Kanu Agrawal is the nodal counsel for the Central government.

The bench also gave the facility of virtual platforms and advanced submissions to those who cannot physically argue with the court.

From one of the petitions that the court was hearing, there was a plea by Supriyo Chakraborty and Abhay Dang, two gay men living in Hyderabad demanding the right to marry a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. As everyone has the right to marry the person of their choice then why LGBTQIA+ community cannot? So, let’s see what decision comes after the hearing of all the petitions by the Supreme court, whether the LGBTQIA+ community gets all the rights that they deserve and demands that they seek. Even after legal acceptance will society accept them?
