Prof. SP Singh Baghel, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, Government of India, today presided over a meeting to review the work being done under the Aspirational District Program in District Moga and issued necessary directions to the concerned departments. Mrs Amandeep Kaur Arora and Mr Davinderjit Singh Ladi Dhos (both MLAs), Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Gulneet Singh Khurana, both Additional Deputy Commissioners, SDM Moga and other officials were also present.
At the outset of the meeting he congratulated the fact that out of 115 aspirational districts across the country, District Moga was performing very well. The district Moga is fulfilling the criteria for which this program was started. He said that this program was started in 2018 under which an amount of Rs. 9 crores has been provided to district Moga so far. This money is being spent on health, education, infrastructure, agriculture and financial inclusion sectors.
He said that in this meeting it had come to his notice that there was no subdivision level hospital in district Moga. He will take up the matter with the Prime Minister's Office and NITI Aayog and efforts will be made to bring four such hospitals here as soon as possible. He said that AYUSH Hospital at Moga would be commissioned soon. At the request of Moga MLA, he assured that he would take up the matter with the Ministry of Health to give one floor of this hospital to the district level civil hospital for Trauma use.
He said that Over Bridges and Under Bridges would be constructed as per the requirement to alleviate the traffic congestion in the city of Moga. He invited Moga MLA Mrs Amandeep Kaur Arora to come to Delhi and discuss the matter with the Ministry of Railways. He stressed that we should pay utmost attention to the care of stray animals. This not only prevents crop damage but also reduces road accidents.
Expressing concern over the declining groundwater in Punjab, he said that farmers should move out of paddy cultivation and move towards crop diversification. To save the environment, crop residues should not be set on fire.
He later told reporters that his ministry was making continuous efforts to reduce the number of cases pending in the courts. E-courts are being promoted. Public interest and positive changes are being made in the provisions of the Indian Penal Code to expedite decisions. The Indian justice system is being developed simply and technologically out of complexities. He said that National Lok Adalats were proving to be very useful in reducing the number of cases.
He said that he would soon bring Mediation and Arbitration Bills to the Lok Sabha. This will also reduce the burden on the courts and provide relief to the people. He clarified that the lack of judges was not the only reason for pending cases in the courts.
