In a major seizure,
SAS Nagar Police today recovered 26 kg gold worth Rs. 7.80 crore from an SUV
during a Nakabandi.In a press conference, SP (Investigation) Mr. Varun Sharma
and DSP Derabassi Mr. Simranjit Singh Lang said that special nakabandi is
laying laid in entire district in view of Lok Sabha Election under the guidance
of SSP S.A.S. NAGAR Mr. H.S. Bhullar. SP further stated that during a special
Nakabandi a team under SHO Lalru Mr. Gurcharan Singh and ASI Jaswinder Singh
checked a suspicious car bearing no KA-01-MJ-2551 Mahindra XUV 500 on a naka
erected in Lalru. He said that 26 kg Gold was recoverd during search of this
suspicious vehicle. Price of the gold in international market is aound 7 Crore
80 lac.Divulging more, Mr. Sharma said that initial investigation revealed that
the accused Rakesh Kumar R/o Vill. Kardi, PS Nadon, Distt. Hamirpur (HP),
Balbir Chand R/o Vill. Dobad kallan, PS Nadon, Distt. Hamirpur (HP), Sanjay
Kumar R/o Vill. Baliana, PS Jolamukhi, Distt. Kangra (HP), Jaswant Singh R/o
Vill. Gewda, PS Kosia, Distt. Jodhpur (Rajasthan) brought that this gold was
importing from South Africa but they failed to produce any documentary evidence
in this regard. He said that the case has been registered at Police Station
Lalru and further investigation is on. Information has been provided to Income
Tax and GST Department for further necessary action.
