National Conference Thursday said Omar Abdullah as Chief Minister was not the signatory of ‘Death Warrant’ of Muhammad Afzal Guroo. Former Minister and National Conference senior leader Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal said that the conspiracy to hang Afzal Guroo was hatched in New Delhi and the PDP patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was part of it.Congress party was at its lowest ebb and in Jammu and Kashmir this party was not at ease with National Conference. To damage the credibility of Omar Abdullah and his party, Congress led New Delhi government hatched a conspiracy with the then Opposition leader Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and executed Muhammad Afzal Guroo. To blame Omar Abdullah for the execution of Guroo is unfair,” Kamal told CNS adding that Omar was asked to take care of law and order problem only.Blaming successive governments of India for the current mess in Jammu and Kashmir, Kamal said that New Delhi is not sincere towards Kashmir. India was and will never be sympathizer of people of Kashmir. “Right from 1947, people of Kashmir have been suffering at the hands of India. Today Indian Civil Society has been admitting that Guroo’s execution was a miscarriage of justice. Despite having no direct evidence, Guroo was hanged and India itself slapped on the face of its democracy by denying mortal remains to the family,” Kamal said adding that half of India’s military force has been deployed in Kashmir to suppress the voice of people.
