Stressing that development of rural areas is vital for the progress and prosperity of the nation, Vice Chairman Kissan Development Board Mr. Daljit Singh Chib called upon government functionaries at all levels to work with utmost zeal and educate the rural masses about various welfare schemes being implemented for their development.The Vice Chairman was addressing a Kissan Sabha at village Mela in Hiranagar, organised by the district administration Kathua under the “Gram Uday se Bharat Uday” campaign.The Vice Chairman said that the main objective of this campaign is to strengthen Panchayati Raj in villages and ensure social harmony, empowerment of women and uplift of farmers.He emphasized on proper implementation of the schemes launched by the central and state government for development of road communication, rural infrastructure, agri-horticulture promotion besides up-gradation of health care, education and other amenities.
He asked the officers to make frequent field visits to redress the grievances of the people and making them aware about the welfare schemes.The Vice Chairman exhorted upon the youth to avail maximum benefits from the welfare schemes and set their income generating units under horticulture, apiculture, tourism and other potential sectors.He asked district administration to organise such camps in other villages for awareness of the people so that they can take maximum benefits envisaged under these schemes.During the Kisan Sabha, officers of various departments apprised the participants about the different schemes launched by the government under different sectors for over all development of rural masses.Later, the Vice Chairman distributed Soil Health Cards among the farmers.
